Private Sewage Disposal

Vermilion County IL Health Department



Environmental Health staff enforces the Ordinance Governing Private Sewage Disposal, which authorizes staff to order corrections of inadequately treated sewage discharges, issue construction permits for private sewage disposal systems, design and size private disposal sysatems, inspect newly constructed systems, and issue licenses. The program targets prevention of the transmission of disease organisms from improper or inadequate treatment of sewage.
In 2006, staff issued 195 construction permits, 51 contractor's licenses, and 1183 compliance and enforcement inspections. For more information, call 431-2662, or contact the EH Director

To construct or alter a private sewage disposal system a permit must be obtained. Please use this
VCHD Application Form.

An Ower/Occupant of a property may construct or alter their own private sewage disposal system all other property owners must use a
Licensed Sewage Contractor.
